BMPCC OG OLPF.
Moiré shows up when fine detail in your scene, such as fabric, brick, or window screens, conflicts with the pixel grid on your sensor. The result is a crawling, colour-shifted interference pattern that is nearly impossible to fix in post. This is a set of files and documentation to build your own Optical Low-Pass Filter and install it on the OG sensor. Two pieces of optical glass, fused into one unit by you, with no compromise to image quality.

How it goes together
Three stages with a clean environment.
Source the optical glass
Two pieces of glass fused together: currently under development. These are do it yourself guides and require a dust free area.
Fuse into one unit
Bond the two pieces of optical glass into a single OLPF element, ready to seat on the OG sensor.
Install on the sensor
Follow the disassembly & assembly guide, seat the filter, reassemble. Clean-room conditions strongly recommended.
Modification specs

This modification requires opening the sensor cavity. Dust intrusion is a high risk. Proceed only if you have experience with delicate electronics.

Q-01What does an OLPF actually fix?
An Optical Low-Pass Filter softens fine detail just enough to stop it fighting the sensor's pixel grid. The crawling, colour-shifted interference (moiré) you get off tight fabric, brick, and window screens goes away without a real loss of sharpness.
Q-02Do I need a clean room?
Not a literal clean room, but as dust-free an environment as you can manage. You're opening the sensor cavity and any dust that gets in during install stays in. Work somewhere still and enclosed, and take it slow.
Q-03What skill level does this need?
Intermediate. The difficult part will be fusing the glass together and keeping it compressed. Installing it is relatively straightforward.
